Counter attack pierce is a property of a move that enables it to break through counter armor. In a Pokémon's move list, such moves are labelled with "counter attack pierce" in its additional notes. When this type of move hits an active counter armor, the armor "shatters" along with the game displaying a message, notifying the player.

Moves with counter-piercing properties go by many names among the community, two of which include piercing attacks and counter-piercing attacks.

Charged counter attacks, the final hit of a homing attack, normal and counter-type Burst Attacks can break through counter armor upon hit. Grab attacks ignore counter armor completely.

Blaziken

Chandelure

Trivia

• The color of the shattered counter armor is purple, possibly alluding to the red color assignment of normal attacks and a blue one for counter attacks.
  • An active counter armor pierced by a charged counter attack will still show purple fragments.
